TaxNova AI Chrome Extension - Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you use the "TaxNova AI | Google Docs, Confluence & Notion Bulk Download" Chrome extension (the "Extension").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data Processing

The Extension does NOT collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data to external servers. All document processing happens locally in your browser.

1.2 Google Drive API Access

To enable Google Drive folder expansion functionality, the Extension requests the following Google API scope:

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly - Read-only access to view and download files from your Google Drive

This permission is used solely to:

List files in Google Drive folders you choose to process
Retrieve file metadata (document creation dates, modification dates)
Download Google Docs documents locally on your computer

1.3 Authentication Methods

The Extension uses different authentication methods for different services:

Google Drive folders - Uses OAuth 2.0 tokens managed securely by Chrome (no cookie access required)
Google Docs - Uses your existing browser session (cookies sent automatically by the browser, not read by the extension)
Notion - Reads authentication cookies locally to access Notion's API (explicitly reads token_v2 and file_token)
Confluence - Uses your existing browser session (cookies sent automatically by the browser, not read by the extension)

Important: For Notion authentication, the Extension reads cookies locally from your browser using the chrome.cookies API. These cookies are only used to make API requests to Notion and are never collected, stored, or transmitted to any external server operated by us.

1.4 Local Storage

The Extension stores the following data locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API:

Your input URLs (for convenience when reopening the extension)
Processing logs (stored temporarily for your reference)
OAuth tokens (managed securely by Chrome)

This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to external servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

The Extension uses the information described above exclusively to:

Process and download documents from Google Docs, Confluence, and Notion
Expand Google Drive folders to retrieve document lists
Save downloaded documents to your local Downloads folder
Provide execution logs for your review

Important - Scope of This Extension: This Extension only downloads and processes documents locally on your device. If you choose to subsequently upload or transfer the downloaded documents to TaxNova or any other third-party service, that action is:

Outside the scope of this Extension
Subject to separate agreements and privacy policies with those services
Your independent decision and responsibility

This privacy policy covers only the Extension's document download functionality, not any subsequent use of the downloaded files.

3. Data Security

We are committed to protecting your data:

Local processing only: All document processing happens locally in your browser
No data transmission: The Extension does not transmit any document content or user data to external servers
Read-only access: The Extension only requests read-only permissions for Google Drive
Chrome security: OAuth tokens are managed securely by Chrome's identity API
Client-side only: The Extension operates entirely in your browser with no backend infrastructure

4. Data Retention

The Extension retains data only as necessary for functionality:

Input URLs: Stored locally until you clear them or uninstall the extension
Processing logs: Stored temporarily in your Downloads folder; you can delete them at any time
OAuth tokens: Managed by Chrome and can be revoked at any time through your Google Account settings

The Extension interacts with the following third-party services:

Google Drive API - For listing and downloading files from Google Drive folders
Google Docs - For downloading document content
Confluence (Atlassian) - For downloading Confluence pages
Notion - For downloading Notion pages

You have complete control over your data:

Revoke access: You can revoke the Extension's access to Google Drive at any time through your Google Account permissions page
Clear local data: You can clear all locally stored data by clicking the "Clear" button in the extension or by uninstalling it
Delete downloads: Downloaded files and logs are saved to your local Downloads folder and can be deleted at any time

7. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transmit any of your data to third parties. The Extension operates entirely locally in your browser and does not communicate with any external servers operated by us.

8. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
